Bharti Foundation to set up 100 Schools for the needy
Amritsar, Jan 25 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal working president and MP Sukhbir Singh Badal today laid the foundation stone for the Satya Bharti School in Channanke village, Amritsar, Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Sukhbir Badal urged the Bharti Foundation to continue and expand its programme to take quality education to rural India by setting up Satya Bharti Schools in the rural pockets.
Bharti Enterprises Vice-Chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal said that the foundation aimed to make available high-quality education to poor children, out-of-school children, migrant children and especially the girl child.
Bharti Foundation presently has 8 operational Satya Bharti Schools located in the Ludhiana district in Punjab with more than 550 children and 70 teachers. Bharti Foundation also operates 21 community centres in Ludhiana and Sangrur districts where approximately 650 children attend remedial classes.
More than 100 schools are to be constructed in Punjab in the districts of Ludhiana, Amritsar and Sangrur. More than 40 schools are presently under construction.
