Agartala, Jan 23 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) detained a former employee of Accountant General's office at Lankamur border of Agartala who was accused of raping his adopted daughter 19 years ago.

According to report, police would produce Bikash Biswas (50), who was arrested yesterday before the court tomorrow in connection with warrants issued against him by a sessions court in six cases in the late 80's.

During interrogation the accused admitted that he was absconding since 1989 when a rape case had been filed against him by his 13-year-old adopted daughter in Khowai, about 70 km from Agartala.

Officer-in-charge of West Agartala police station Subrata Chakraborty said Mr Biswas was a senior accountant of AG office and had filed a number of cases against the then Chief Secretary, District Magistrate and other senior officials of the civil administration during 1984-85 alleging governmental non-cooperation.

He was defeated in the high court and subsequently at least six criminal cases, including a rape charge, were filed against him in Khowai. Meanwhile, he had taken shelter in Bangladesh, Mr Chakraborty stated.

''Since, the court had issued warrant against Mr Biswas we have been in search of him. Incidentally, the BSF had detained him at the border when he illegally crossed the boundary yesterday,'' he said and added that a police officer of Biswas's area identified him.
