Girl crushed to death by school bus

Yamunanagar, Jan 22 (UNI) A five-year-old girl was crushed to death and another child injured by a school bus inside their school here today triggering protests by parents and local residents.

Khushi and Aastha, both nursury students of Sant Nischal Singh Public School, soon after alighting from their school bus came under its wheels while the driver was reversing the vehicle.

Khushi died on the spot while Aastha sustained injuries.

Agitated by the incident and inaction of the police and school authorities, Khushi's family members and some local residents blocked the highway near the school and pelted the school with stones.

To disperse the crowd, the police resorted to lathicharge in which the deceased girl's grandfather was injured.

Later, the police arrested the driver, Balwant Singh, and registerted a case under sections 279 and 304 A of the IPC against him.
