Govt. approves construction of bridge in Tamil Nadu
New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Union Road Transport and Highways Minister T.R. Baalu has approved a sum of Rs. 161.09 lakh for construction of a high-level bridge across Anjukottai supply channel on NH 210 in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu.
NH-210 is an important National Highway passing through Trichy, Pudukottai, Sivaganga and Ramand districts in Tamil Nadu.
It connects several towns in Tamil Nadu and also serves as a main link to the pilgrim centre of Rameswaram from the northern parts of the state.
A ministry official said during the rainy season, the causeway is subjected to submergence, causing frequent interruption of traffic.
It was thus considered necessary to construct a high-level bridge at this location, he added.
