CPI(M) to strongly oppose oil price hike: Yechury
Bangalore, Jan 21(UNI) Strongly opposing any move to hike prices of petroleum products, Communist Party of India (Marxist) Politburo Member Sitaram Yechury today advised the UPA Government to make changes in the tax structure to offset the losses suffered by oil companies.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Yechury said people were already burdened by high prices of petroleum products and cannot take any further increase.
''Going for a hike in oil price should not be the sole option.
People belonging to less privileged sections of the society are not in a position to take the burden of oil price hike and the Left parties will oppose it vehemently,'' he said.
