Keep students away from public meeting : Dhumal

Shimla, Jan 20 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today directed the Education Department not to bring school children to his public meetings.

However, every educational institution will be at liberty to organise its school functions, sports events and extra curricular activities in its premises during the schooling hours, he said here.

Mr Dhumal said it had often been observed that the school children were forced to attend public meetings during their schooling hours, thereby causing academic loss and putting them to inconvenience.

Henceforth, the children should carry on with their studies and not stand on the roadside to welcome the dignitaries visiting or passing through their areas, he said.

He said such practices hampered their studies and was not in their best interest.

The Chief Minister said the teachers also need to concentrate more on teaching and work with dedication and commitment.

Warning of strict action against those principals and teachers violating these orders, Mr Dhumal said since children were the future of the country, their energy should not be lost on welcoming the dignitaries.
