Paswan takes exception to Bharat Ratna controversy

Agartala, Jan 19 (UNI) Union Minister for Steel, Chemical and Fertilizers and Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) chief Ramvilas Paswan has taken a strong exception to the recent controversy regarding the Bharat Ratna award.

Mr Paswan said BJP had been politicising the issue and every political party was naming its own candidate.

'' This is most unfortunate for India,'' he said.

'' Bharat Ratna is the country's highest civilian award and the trend to politicise it would only tarnish its image before the world,'' Mr Paswan added.
