Retd IPS officer's grandson kills woman
Korba, Chhattisgarh, Jan 18 (UNI) Two engineering students, including a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer's grandson, have been arrested on charge of murdering a woman in this district.
''Municipal Corporation Sub-Engineer K P Gupta's wife Sadhna was killed yesterday. Bhilai Institute of Technology's students Korba-resident Shivshankar Shukla (21) and P Tejaswini-- were apprehended by Government Railway Police at Champa Railway Station last night,'' City Superintendent of Police Vedvrat Sirmour said, adding that the duo had confessed to the homicide.
An unidentified person had assured Tejaswini that she would pass the second semester in exchange for money. For this, the accused tortured the victim from noon to about 1600 hrs at her residence in City Kotwali Police Station limits and looted Rs 10,000. Multiple stab injuries, inflicted to make Ms Gupta reveal whether more money was there in the house, led toher dealth .
The duo fled through the back door when they heard Mr Gupta approaching. The accused then boarded the Link Express for Bhilai.
Shukla's father is deputy general manager at the Bhilai Steel Plant.
