Three gangs of snatchers busted in Kapurthala

Kapurthala, Jan 17 (UNI) Kapurthala police busted three gangs of chain and mobile snatchers with the arrest of seven members and recovered 17 mobiles, two purses, one ATM card and bank pass books from their possession.

Talking to media persons here today, SSP Rakesh Aggarwal identified the arrested accused as Babu, Ashu, Neeraj, Amit Kumar, Mandip Singh, Kulwant Singh and Ravi Kumar all residents of Kapurthala.

SSP told all the members of the three gangs confessed to have committed 16 incidents of snatching in the town during last year.

All the accused were in their early twenties and accused Ashu and Babu were the members of dance group in Chandigarh and were also doing modelling.

SSP said accused Babu, Amit and Kulwant Singh were the leaders of their respective gangs and police expected some more recoveries from them.

The accused Amit was also facing a trial in a snatching case.
