Body of BSF jawan found hanging from tree

Bangaon, Jan 17 (UNI) Body of a Border Security Force jawan was found hanging from a tree in the BSF camp complex at Haridahpore near here today.

Police said 36 Battalion BSF jawan Constable Bharat Chandra Das(36) was allegedly involved in smuggling activities. A departmental inquiry had been instituted by the BSF authorities against him, police added, quoting the BSF.

While the BSF authorities said Bharat had committed suicide, his wife Swapna, resident of Bandh Khantura of the district, claimed that her husband was killed and hung from the tree.

Police has, however, registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for post mortem.
