Newly-elected Guj MLAs to be administered oath of office tomorrow

Ahmedabad, Jan 16 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma has summoned a two-day state assembly session from tomorrow to elect the Speaker of the House and adminsiter the oath of office to newly elected MLAs.

According to a Raj Bhavan communique, the Governor has appointed senior most member of the House, Daulatbhai Desai, as pro-tem Speaker, who will adminster the oath of office to all 182 MLAs tomorrow. Before that, Mr Desai will be sworn in as pro-tem Speaker by the Governor.

The new MLAs will elect the Speaker on January 18. After the Speaker's election, the Governor will deliver an inaugural address and then the House will take up regular business.
