CR Park murder solved, driver arrested for Meera Mittal's killing
New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) The police today said they had solved the sensational murder of a woman in Chittaranjan Park on Saturday with the arrest of the the family's driver.
Meera Mittal, 51, a resident of Gangotri Enclave, Alaknanda in the area, was found murdered in her ground floor flat on Saturday evening. The police suspected the crime had been committed by somebody known to the deceased as there was no sign of forced entry or the flat being ransacked for valuables.
During the course of the investigation, the driver Anoop Kumar Kakde was also interrogated along with the other domestic servants.
The police zeroed onto him after it was found he had been missing around the time of the crime, and there were several contradictions in his testimony.
On sustained questioning, he confessed to the crime and said it was caused by the repeated scolding he got for not coming on time or doing his work properly, and the lure of money.
Police have recovered all the jewellery and cash he had stolen from the murdered woman's body and purse.
