Need to educate youth about cultural heritage : Atwal
Ludhiana, Jan 12 (UNI)Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal today exhorted cultural and social organizations to make concerted efforts to educate the youth about rich cultural heritage of the country.
Addressing a well-attended gathering of youth at a function, organized by the Youth Sabhyacharak Lok Hiteshi Manch at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan here, he said the younger generation was not fully aware of moral and social values and needed to be educated.
He stressed upon the need to involve the youth in a big way to eradicate social evils like dowry, female foeticide, pollution, drug addiction etc from the society as these were bound to adversely affect the social system.
Mr Atwal said that stage programmes and plays were the most effective medium to educate the youth and persuade them towards constructive activities.
Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, MP, and Mr Satpal Gosain, Deputy Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha also addressed the function.
