CBI court rejects former DJB member's bail in bribe case
New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) A CBI court today rejected the bail application of former Delhi Jal Board (DJB) member Subash Chandra Phul accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a contractor.
Special Judge A S Yadav, handing down the order, held that Phul's custody was needed for the purpose of investigation.
Phul is facing charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from one Vijay Kateria of Kaveri Infrastructure Ltd for award of a contract.
He had asked him to make the payment to his brother Ashok Phul, an Executive Engineer with the DJB.
Kateria, however, lodged a complaint with police and the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Police apprehended Ashok Kumar Phul, while accepting the first installment of Rs eight lakh.
