Bardhan to inaugurate CPI State Council Meet on Sunday

Panaji, Jan 11 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardhan will inaugurate the party's XIV Goa State Conference on January 13 at Porvorim here in north Goa.

CPI State Council Secretary Christopher Fonseca told mediapersons the conference would review the political situation and chalk out future course of action for strengthening the party base in Goa through membership drive including all sections of the society.

Apart from discussing burning issues threadbare, the conference will adopt resolutions related to social, economic and political aspects including unemployment, fair wages to workers, public distribution system and child and women welfare.

The State Council will also place its future agenda before the 5-day National Council meeting of the party to be held in Hyderabad from March 23, Mr Fonseca said.

Welcoming Governor S C Jamir's official annoucement yesterday in the State Legislative Assembly that the government had mooted the process of scrapping the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in deference to the collective public opinion, the CPI leader said Goa had no future without rapid industrialisation with no other option available for its development and generating employment potential.
