Warning to fishermen on using double folded nets

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 8 (UNI) The administration is taking all steps to check fishing using certain kinds of nets.

Sources said following apprehensions expressed by a section of the fishermen, Fisheries Department Assistant Director Velpandiyan, Fisheries Development Commissioner Sambu Kalolikar and Ramanathapuram Collector Girilosh Kumar have issued strict warning against the use of double folded and knotted nets in the sea off Rameswaram-Pamban Coast.

The nets destroyed fishing resources and reduced the amount of catch. Hence, the restrictions on using them, the sources added.
