UP gets respite from cold as temperature increases

Lucknow, Jan 8 (UNI) People in Uttar Pradesh got some respite from the cold weather conditions sweeping across the state with an increase in day and night temperatures.

However, with the death of five more persons, including four in Mainpuri and one in Robertsganj, the toll due to cold in the state today mounted to 85.

The Met department has forecast drizzle accompanied with thunder and lightning at Meerut, Moradabad, Bareilly, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Jalaun, Jhansi and Lalitpur in the next 24 hours.

While, the night temperatures at Bareilly, Jhansi, Kanpur and Meerut divisions were recorded above normal in the past 24 hours, the night temperatures at Allahabad, Lucknow, Meerut and Agra divisions were increasing.

Sultanpur stood the coldest in the state with a minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below normal.

The minimum temperature in Lucknow was recorded at 8.6 degrees, which was two degrees above normal.
