CPI(M) urges working class to equip for struggle
Madurai, Jan 8 (UNI) The 19th CPI(M) Tamil Nadu State Conference today passed a resolution, urging the working class to prepare for a struggle demanding the Centre and state governments to check the spiralling prices of essential commodities.
The resolution appealed to the government to streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS) and prevent smuggling of essential commodities, including pulses and edible oils.
Stating that the economic liberalisation policies of the Centre were the reason behind the hike in prices of essential commodities, the Conference said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had failed to check the rising prices.
The Centre's move to hike the prices of petroleum products would further escalate the prices of essential commodities, it added.
