Brass traders demand exemption from VAT

Moradabad, Jan 8 (UNI) After Muzaffarnagar jaggery traders, brass traders here have also joined the battle against the VAT regime, demanding exemption of the brass handicraft from the Uttar Pradesh government's new tax regime.

Representatives of the brass industry today submitted a memorandum to the state government, asking not to include brass handicrafts in VAT brackets.

The memorandum states that since Aligarh and few other districts' handicraft industry had been exempted from VAT, the brass handicrafts should also be made free on the same grounds.
