Dhaka, Jan 8 (UNI) Four Advisers to the military-backed caretaker government of Bangladesh resigned en mass today on the government's ''desire''.
Law and Information Adviser barrister Mainul Hosein, Energy Adviser Tapan Chowdhury, Health Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Matiur Rahman and Industry Adviser Geeteara Safiya Chowdhury stood down this afternoon.
Barrister Mainul and Mr Tapan Chowdhury told reporters that they tendered their resignations to Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed, as the government desired.
Earlier, Education Adviser Dr Ayub Quadri resigned in the wake of Paris-bound Bangladesh artefacts scandal on December 26.
The resignations came on the eve of the caretaker government's completion of one year in office.
The incumbent caretaker government assumed office on January 12 last year under the state of emergency imposed a day before to quell political unrest over the abortive parliamentary elections.
