Customs confiscate jewellery from Indo-Bangla border

Basirhat, Jan 7(UNI)Jewellery worth Rs 17 lakh has been confiscated by customs officials at Khalsi under Swarupnagar police station near the Indo-Bangla border in North 24 Parganas.

According to customs sources, Border Security Force yesterday handed over a bag of jewellery, containing among others a pair of diamond necklace and two pairs of ear rings that was left behind by some smugglers, who intruded Khalsi from Bangladesh.

On being chased by the BSF, the smugglers fled back to Bangladesh, sources here added.
