Bomb blast near railway crossing, girl wounded

Jaunpur, Jan 7 (UNI) A bomb blast near Shankarpur railway crossing in Jafrabad area here this morning grievously wounded a girl.

Two bombs, akin to a torch battery, were spotted near the railway crossing by teenaged Rubi.

One of the bombs, however, exploded when Rubi threw stone at them for fun, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

She was admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Another bomb was defused by the bomb disposal squad.

Senior officials had reached the spot.

Police Superintendent Sridhar Pathak said efforts were on to ascertain the source of bombs.

Several trains pass through the Jafrabad-Janghai rail division.

Earlier on July 28, 2005, a bomb blast at Harpalganj (Singramau) railway station aboard the Shramjeevi Express had killed 14 people and wounded 90 others.

Meanwhile, an investigation was on.
