'Airport issue strenthened Haryana's claim on Chandigarh'
Narnaul, Jan 7 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has further strenthened the state's claim on Chandigarh by ensuring its stake in Chandigarh International Airport alongwith Punjab, Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda said today.
Mr Deepender Hooda stated this while speaking at the concluding function of the Haryana Vikas Sandesh Rath Yatra here.
He said the Chief Minister acted promptly to ensure Haryana's share in the project when the airport was about to be inaugurated. It was the result of his farsightedness that his request was considered by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Kumar. This, he said, further strengthened Haryana's claim on Chandigarh.
Mr Deepender Hooda said, had the leadership of previous governments acted wisely, the SYL canal would have become functional till now. But they stayed away from ground realities, he said.
Besides, he said, the available water was not equitably distributed.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had now got the Hansi-Butana-Link canal almost completed to ensure supply of southern Haryana's due share of water. But the opposition was still trying to mislead the people, he added.
He said the government had been trying to ensure that the areas of Mahendergarh and Rewari got the same quantity of water as being supplied to the areas of Adampur and Sirsa.
He urged the workers of the Congress Sewa Dal and party workers to publicise the policies and programmes of the government so that their benefits reached all. He appreciated the efforts made by convenor of Rath Yatra Ashok Kadian and office bearers of Sewa Dal for conducting the Yatra.
