Poor coordination resulted in stampede: Principal Secretary
Vijayawada, Jan 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Revenue Principal Secretary I V Subba Rao, appointed by the state government to inquire into the stampede at Kanakadurga temple, today said the tragic incident had occurred due to poor coordination between temple officials, police and revenue department.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Rao said he would submit the report to the government within a week.
With the number of devotees increasing every year, the temple authorities should have taken suitable measures to regulate the crowd and streamline the darshan.
He said stern action would be taken against those, who were found guilty.
Earlier, Mr Rao visited the hospital, where the injured were admitted.
Meanwhile, the leaders of CPI, TDP and BJP submitted separate representations to the officer, demanding a judicial inquiry into the incident, which happened on January three, and an exgratia of Rs five lakh to the families of the deceased.
