Nine new cases of polio detected in Darbhanga
Darbhanga, Jan 6 (UNI) Despite a vigorous drive to eradicate Polio from the state during the last few years, the administration found themselves at a loss as nine new cases of polio were detected in the district.
District civil surgeon Dr Lakhinder Prasad said that nine new polio cases had been confirmed by a pathological test report carried out by a reputed centre at Lucknow. With the detection of new cases, 20 new children had been found to be affected by the disease in Darbhanga district during the last one year, he added.
During the pathological test, it was confirmed that all these children were affected by P3 virus, Mr Prasad said while adding that a special drive of Pulse Polio would be launched in these areas from where new cases were reported.
''Hayaghat, Keoti and Kusheshwarsthan blocks of the district were worst affected as most of the new cases were reported fron these areas'', Mr Prasad pointed out.
