Three police personnel suspended for alleged custodial death

Chandigarh, Jan 5 (UNI) The Chandigarh police have suspended a Station House Officer(SHO) and two other police personnel for negligence in their duty and administrative lapse in the alleged death of a person in police custody.

They were identified as Harshai Sharma, SHO of sector 31 police station, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukh Ram and Head Constable Kuldeep Singh.

The wife of deceased Nirmal Singh Kala has accused the police of custodial death of her husband after he was picked up following a quarrel with neighbours at Hallomajra on January 2.

However, authorities have ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident.
