MCD's golden jubilee sops for property tax payers
New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has formulated an amnesty scheme for the property tax payers on its golden jubilee to settle the ex-parte cases prior to 2004 under the old system.
The MCD said the rectification of these ex-parte cases attract penalty besides 54 per cent interest as on January one this year.
''The scheme provides waiver of full penalty and 75 per cent of the interest amount,'' it added.
The scheme was also applicable to those who have not deposited tax under the new system -- Unit Area Method (UAM) -- applicable from April 2004 onwards and again the full penalty and 75 per cent of the interest amount would be waived.
The scheme would be applicable only for voluntary disclosure and not to those tax payers against whom the MCD's Assessment and Collection Department had already issued notices under section 123 a, b, c and d of amended DMC Act 2003.
The MCD said the scheme would remain open till March 31.
