False assurances of JD(S)-BJP cost coop sector: KPCC

Madikeri, Jan 5 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjun Kharge today alleged that false assurances of the JD(S)-BJP coalition government had affected the cooperative sector in the state.

Addressing a public meeting at Gandhi Maidan here, he said the previous JD(S)-BJP government had announced a loan exemption to the tune of Rs 2,250 crore for the farmers, who had borrowed money from cooperative sector.

The government had released only Rs 750 crore to the cooperative sector that had waived the loan taken by the farmers.

He alleged that ''former Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa had colluded with the dealers to receive commission in the cycle distribution scheme for students.'' ''Mr Yeddiyurappa has deposited Rs 150 crore in his wife's account within a span of three months,'' he alleged.
