Thar Express to resume service today
Jodhpur, Jan 4(UNI)The link train Thar Express connecting India and Pakistan will resume its journey tonight after the service was suspended in the wake of large-scale violence in Pakistan following the assassination of former Pakistan Paime Minister Benazir Bhutto on December 27.
Jodhpur Divisional railway manager S K Sood said considering the improvement in the situation in Pakistan the Indian Railways have decided to resume the Thar Express service today. The weekly train departs every Friday from Bhagati ki Kothi railway station in Jodhpur.
Mr Sood said the Railways had refunded the 468 passengers who had reserved seats in the Thar Express to depart last Friday and the ticket reservation has commenced following the decision to resume the rail service today.
The Home Ministry had also extended the visas of 264 Pakistani passengers till January 5 due to the cancellation of the train service between the two countires.
