Chennai, Jan 3 (UNI) The Research and Developmental division of LifeCell, pioneers in cord blood stem cell banking in the country, has been recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR).
A LifeCell release here yesterday said with this accreditation, LifeCel1 was entitled to receive support from premier government establishments such as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Department of Biotechnology and Department of Science and Technology on any advanced research in stem cell biology.
In a country like India, where stem cell industry was still at the infant stage, this accreditation was a boost to LifeCell to promote further research in stem cell and collaborate with other national institutions of excellence, the release said quoting LifeCell Vice-Chairman Abhaya Kumar.
