Policeman kills wife, commits suicide

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 1 (UNI) An Armed Reserve Constable today allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife, at Police Lane in Ameenapet Area here.

Police said Y Nagabhushanam (38) returned to his house without informing the higher officials from the Deputy Inspector General Bungalow where he had reported for duty at 0300 hrs He returned home, shot his wife Gangabhavani (32) with his Self Loading Rifle (SLR) before pointing the gun at himself.

The couple's two children, who were sleeping in their room, started screaming following which the neighbours informed the police.

The bodies were taken to the government hospital here for post-mortem.Police said the constable suspected his wife's fidelity and took the extreme step.
