CPI(M) condemns attack on CRPF camp

New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, in which seven security personnel and one civilian were killed.

The party, in a press statement issued here, expressed its shock now such an attack could take place on a Central paramilitary force institution in the heart of the country. It is also worrying that the attack has taken place despite prior intellegence alert of the possibility of such a terrorist strike inthe area, he added.

''There has to be an explanation of what were the lapses which led to the terrorist squad entering the camp after taking the guards by surprise. This incident, coming in the wake of the bomb blasts earlier in UP should make the Central Government and the UP State Government gear up their intellegence and security system. No effort should be spared to uncover the terrorist networks operating in the country,'' the release added.
