'Infosys would consider takeovers in Europe'

Frankfurt, July 12: Infosys Technologies Ltd., India's number-two software services exporter, would consider friendly takeovers in Europe, the firm's chief executive told a German newspaper.

''If we can grow faster through an acquisition, then we will do it,'' Kris Gopalakrishnan was quoted as saying in a preview of the Thursday edition of Handelsblatt.

''The prerequisite is that the company also wants to be bought,'' he added.

Infosys was particularly interested in the workforce of competitors, the paper said.
