Over 20,000 yatris visit Amarnath in 10 days
Jammu, July 11: More than 20,000 pilgrims have taken up Shri Amarnath pilgrimage officially from yatra base camp here at the MA Stadium in the first ten days.
The tenth batch of 1,778 pilgrims left Jammu base camp for Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas this morning.
A convoy of 56 vehicles carrying, 1,179 men, 385 women, 162 Sadhus and 52 children , left for Nunwan and Baltal yatra camps at 0500 hrs, official sources said.
A total of 20,146 pilgrims have officially left the base camp here for the Holy cave shrine after the commencement of yatra on July 2, after a two-day delay following bad weather conditions.
More than 1.2 lakh devotees have unofficially visited the cave shrine of Lord Shiva so far this year.
Rains and landslides en route the cave shrine make the track slippery and risky.
