Chandra Shekhar to be cremated today
New Delhi, July 9: Former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, who died here yesterday, will be cremated with full state honours at Ekta Sthal near Rajghat later this evening.
The octogenarian socialist leader's body is at present at his official South Avenue residence to enable people to pay tributes.
The funeral procession will start at 1600 hrs and the cremation will take place at 1700 hrs at Ekta Sthal, an official statement said.
All the Central Government offices/establishments will remain closed this afternoon to facilitate the mourners to join the funeral.
As a mark of respect to the departed leader, the national flag will fly at half-mast for seven days ( till July 14) to observe state mourning.
