Suraj recovered from borewell, found dead
Jaipur, July 7: Five-year-old Suraj, who was taken out from the 180-feet deep borewell in which he was stuck for more than 53 hours, was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead yesterday.
Suraj had fallen into the borewell at 4:30 pm in Nimera village here on Wednesday.
With the inordinate delay in digging operation, the army and the rescue workers changed the strategy in the evening, deciding to pull out the borewell pipe with the help of a crane.
When the borewell pipe was pulled out, Suraj was found stuck in the fifth piece of the pipe.
The pipe was cut with the help of a gas cutter and the boy was retrieved at about 8.45 pm.
The boy was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
The state government has granted an ex-gratia payment of Rs two lakh to the child's family.
