'Operation with Nimitz may affect natl security'

Bhopal, July 3: Loktantrik Samajwadi Party National President Raghu Thakur today opposed joint exercises between United States aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and India, saying it could endanger national security.

Mr Thakur told a press conference here today that nuclear-powered aircraft carriers must not be used for joint exercises, as it could endanger entire humanity.

Besides, detective cameras installed in the ship had the potential of capturing minute images.

He expressed apprehension that the aircraft carrier could capture information from Indian nuclear centre in Kerala, as it was located a few kilometres from Chennai port.

USS Nimitz had dropped anchor two miles off Chennai port on Monday morning.
