Akal Takht refuses to accept Dera head's apology
Amritsar, June 27: The Akal Takht today refused to accept a fresh apology tendered by controversial Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh, describing it as ''more of a press note than a proper apology.'' A crucial meeting of high priests presided over by Akal Takht Jathhedar Joginder Singh Vendanti said while the earlier apology was made by the Dera Sacha Sauda chief to the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, the second one seeks to assuage the feelings of Sikh community as a whole.
However, the Sikh religious leaders, after a serious deliberation, found that the apology ''falls short of mark'' and was therefore not acceptable, sources here said.
