Kalam exposed those enacting drama: Karuna

Madurai, June 23: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK Chief M Karunanidhi tonight said President A P J Abdul Kalam's decision on not running for a second term had exposed those attempting to gain political mileage by dragging his name in the race for the Presidential election.

Dr Kalam had put an end to the machinations of those bent upon creating confusion, the chief minister told a mammoth election meeting here tonight.

Though he was obviously referring to the unsuccessful efforts of the Third Front leaders, he desisted from naming any of them.

Describing the President as one who had endeared himself to the people of the country, he credited the first citizen for facilitating to move ahead.

The DMK patriarch, who expressed deep gratitude to Dr Kalam, paid rich encomiums and showered praises saying the first citizen had earned the affection of one and all by his commitment to democracy besides his love towards fellow countymen.
