DSGMC satisfied with Sacha Sauda apology
New Delhi, June 21: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Paramjit Singh Sarna today expressed satisfaction over the fresh apology tendered by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for his alleged blasphemous imitation of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.
Speaking to the reporters here, Mr Sarna denied that the fresh apology, the second in a month's time, came under pressure of a conditional arrest warrant against the Dera head. ''It is a result of protracted deliberations,'' he said.
The Sirsa-based Dera sent an ''unsigned'' letter to the DSGMC yesterday, seeking an unconditional apology for ''unintentionally'' hurting sentiments of Sikhs after a Punjab court issued conditional arrest warrant against Baba Ram Rahim.
Claiming credit for solving the imbroglio, the DSGMC chief said both the Shiromani Akali Dal and the DSGMC persuaded the Dera chief hard to redraft his apology to be addressed to the Sikh community in general.
