AP: Departmental inquiry into train accident
Visakhapatnam, June 12: East West Railway General Manager S S Khurana today ordered a departmental inquiry into the derailment of Nagercoil-Howrah Gurudev Express at Duvvada railway station.
Three people were killed and 22 injured when 11 caoches of the Gurudev Express derailed near Duvvada railway station last night.
Talking to reporters here, after visiting the accident spot, Mr Khurana announced an ex-gratia of Rs 15,000 each to the family of the deceased and Rs 500 each to the injured.
He said rail traffic in the sector would be restored by this evening.
A special train would leave for Howrah this afternoon carrying all the stranded passengers, he added.
Union Minister of State for Mines and Geology T Subirammi Reddy visited the site.
