K'taka: 60 to 62 pc polling recorded in Ullal
Mangalore, Jun 2: Nearly 60 to 62 per cent of voting was recorded in the byelections to Ullal Assembly constituency in Karnataka which passed off peacefully today.
The polling was held amidst tight security with no untoward incident reported.
The fate of five candidates including that of U T Khadar (Congress), Chandrasekhar Uchil (BJP), Aboobakar Natekal (JD-S), Balakrishna Shetty (IND) and Bharathraj Shetty (Ind) was sealed in the ballot box. Counting would take place on June five.
Police said barring an incident of seizing a car, reportedly carrying a cash of rupees one lakh rupees no other untoward incident was reproted.
The polling was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA U T Fareed in April this year.
