SAD demands President's rule in Punjab
Jalandhar, May 18: Shiromani Akali Dal president Ravi Inder Singh demanded President's Rule in Punjab.
In a statement issued here, the SAD president said that Prakash Singh Badal government had failed to control the law and order situation in the state, arising out of the Dera Sacha Sauda controversy, which had rocked the state.
He said to control the deteriorating law and order situation in time and to further avoid 1978-like situation in the state when there were clashes between Nirankari and Sikh activists, it was better to implement President's Rule in the state.
''Had the Central Government in 1978 implemented the President Rule in time, the disturbances in Punjab could have been avoided,'' he said.
