Dera Sacha Sauda agitation reaches Kashmir
Srinagar, May 17: Hundreds of Sikhs, many of them wielding swords, took out a march here today, protesting against the activities of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect.
Hundreds of Sikhs gathered at the Singh Sabha Gurdwara at Amira Kadal in Lal Chowk area and marched toward the 'Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower)' here in a peaceful procession.
Angry protestors later burnt in effigy Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for allegedly posing as the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.
They demanded arrest and strict action against Dera Sacha Sauda chief for deeply hurting the sentiments of the members of the Sikh community throughout the world.
The act had resulted in clashes between the followers of the Dera and Sikhs in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Jammu and now Kashmir.
Reports received from Baramulla and other parts of the Kashmir valley said Sikhs took out processions at several places in protest against the ''blasphemous act''.
However, there were no reports of any violence from any part of the Kashmir valley.
