BSP men caught with guns at Rahul's hotel expelled
Lucknow, May 4: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today expelled two party workers who were caught in a Faizabad hotel last night with revolvers where Amethi MP and Congress' star campaigner Rahul Gandhi was staying.
Former Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati said here that since the two had violated party's discipline by carrying arms during campaigning, she was expelling them from the BSP. ''It is also the violation of the model code of conduct...I have repeatedly asked party workers to follow norms,'' she said.
During a routine check security men had found Santlal Jatav and Pyarelal Jatav carrying two licenced revolvers at a hotel where Rahul was stayinh overnight.
They told investigators that they were BSP workers from Ghaziabad and were campaigning for the party candidates.
The two were later let off.
Ms Mayawati today said all senior and junior functionaries of the party should strictly adhere to the model code of conduct. ''We should always present ourselves as a disciplined party,'' she added.
