BSP workers held for violating model code in UP
Mirzapur, May 2: Five workers of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have been arrested for violating the model code of conduct here, police said today.
''The BSP workers were trying to influence the voters by distributing them 'money, wine pouches and sarees' in Raghunathpur Village of Jamalpur area late last night,'' police said.
The accused identified as Mahendra, Suresh, Parmanand, Anil and Hauri Lal were caught red-handed, when they were going door-to-door to disburse the things.
Raghunathpur village comes under Chunaar assembly constituency, where BSP's Ramesh Dubey is face-to-face with BJP's former state unit president Om Prakash Singh, which is going to poll in the sixth phase tomorrow.
Election Commission has been informed about the arrests.
