Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, wife visit shrine

Chennai, Feb 11: Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi and his wife Mrs Flavia Franzoni participated in the Sunday Mass at the historical pilgrim centre St Thomas Mount, a hill shrine here today.

According to Church authorities, the dignitaries spent about an hour in the shrine and offered prayers.

The authorities had arranged a dance programme for the distinguished guests.

Later, the couple offered prayers at St Thomas Basilica at Santhome on the Marina here.
