Entire West Bengal to go Singur way: Buddhadeb

Coochbehar, Feb 1: Asserting that the entire West Bengal would gothe Singur way, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today saidindustrialisation was irreversible and his Government would not buckleunder any pressure of the Government.

"West Bengal will go the way of Singur. The Government wouldnever bow to those who are opposing setting up industries to pushbackward our society," he said while addressing a rally at Baksirhathere.

The rally was organised by Brahmaputra Jalapath Dabi Samity andattended by among others Asom Revenue Minister Bhumidhar Burman andTransport Minister Chandan Brahma.

Reaffirming that the Left Front Government was determined to setup industries on the basis of its success in agriculture, the ChiefMinister also emphasised on developing communication network.

His comments came few days after Trinamool Congress supremo MamataBanerjee threatened of a bitter movement and gave a ten-day ultimatumto the state government to shift from Singur the Tatas' small carproject.

Mr Bhattacharjee said Kamtapuri activists in North Bengal werestill trying to "raise" their heads but effots must be on for thestate's development in the face of all odds.

Stressing that a port must be set up in Dhubri, Mr Bhattacharjeesaid with the navigation of ship in the area, West Bengal and Asomwould be interlinked to great mututal benefits. " Once ships startmoving there, Kolkata, Haldia and Dhubri will be interlinked spellingdevelopment for both Asom and West Bengal, " he said.

Criticising ULFA for killing people and creating unrest in Asomand West Bengal as well, Mr Bhattacharjee urged the members of theunderground organisation to join the mainstream.
