Sirsa, Jan 29: The Haryana government would provide additional facilities to those developers who would set up their Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the backward areas of the state.

Fifty per cent land would be acquired by the government for a SEZ in a backward area and an added concession would also be given under the local area development tax, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced at a media conference here yesterday.

The Chief Minister said that the government had chalked out a policy for setting up of SEZs under which the developers would have to rehabilitate the villagers besides providing basic amenities in the villages, he said.

Sirsa district had been declared backward according to the new industrial policy announced by the government in 2005, he pointed out.
