APHC chief says he has no secret formula on JK
Islamabad, Jan 23: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chief Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has dispelled the impression that he carried any secret formula for Pakistani leadership to solve the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
"The APHC has often been accused of following whatever is said by President Pervez Musharraf, but the truth is that we supported whatever we felt was practicable and positive as the intention has always been to break the status quo," Dawn newspaper quoted him as saying in Islamabad.
He said the alliance has no hidden agenda on Kashmir and would formulate proposals in light of discussions with leaders of Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK).
Pakistan had been playing a positive role and its policies raised hopes among Kashmiris. It is for the first time that Kashmiris are at the center stage, Mr Mirwaiz said.
The APHC leader said the leadership from both parts of Kashmir had agreed on setting up working groups to enhance mutual interaction as part of intra-Kashmir dialogue aimed at contributing towards resolution of the issue. These two working groups would meet every two months.
Mr Farooq also promised to hold a conference in Muzaffarabad as part of the efforts to promote intra-Kashmir dialogue, enabling Kashmiris of both the sides to formulate a joint strategy.
He urged Pakistan and India to support the intra-Kashmir dialogue as it could bring divided Kashmiri families closer to each other and suggested that people living on both sides of the Line of Control should be allowed to use private cars for visits across it.
